MCPSA supports and celebrates the passage of the CROWN Act

The Massachusetts Charter Public School Association and our member schools celebrate the diversity of our students, nearly three-quarters of whom identify as people of color, and we deeply value the various cultures our students bring into their school communities each day. We fully support and celebrate today’s enactment of legislation that prohibits discrimination based on natural hairstyles in schools, businesses, and other public spaces across the Commonwealth. All students should feel welcomed and valued as their authentic selves within their schools. We celebrate this advancement and all efforts to construct a more culturally affirming and racially just and equitable society.
