The New Leaders’ Effective Practice Incentive Community (EPIC) program recently announced that five Massachusetts charter public schools have been honored with the organization’s prestigious EPIC award.
New Leaders identifies in-district and charter public schools that participate in the EPIC program, providing a cash award to school leaders and teachers of the schools that have accomplished significant student achievement gains and have participated in a rigorous process to identify and document the effective practice that led to their students’ success.
The five Massachusetts charter public schools receiving the award are:
- MATCH Charter Public High School – Boston
- Boston Collegiate Charter School – Boston, MA
- Codman Academy Charter Public School – Dorchester, MA
- Community Charter School of Cambridge – Cambridge, MA
- Community Day Charter Public School – Lawrence, MA
The EPIC award will provide cash awards to teachers and administrators who are directly involved in student growth. Every teacher will receive $3,000, and the administrators (those involved in curriculum and educational program) will receive $5000 awards.
By investigating EPIC award-winners, New Leaders learns what is working to transform these high-need schools and uses that knowledge to enhance the New Leaders program and provide professional development tools for educators nationwide.
The EPIC program is funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Teacher Incentive Fund (TIF), school district and charter school partners, and private philanthropic funders, including Carnegie Corporation of New York, Hyde Family Foundation, Kern Family Foundation, MetLife Foundation, Pearson Foundation, and two Anonymous donors.
