Dear Supporter,
We’re excited to share a long-awaited milestone for charter public school students and families across Massachusetts!
On Thursday, July 9th, the Healey-Driscoll Administration signed the FY27 state budget, which includes a $100 per student increase in facilities funding for charter public schools. This increase will provide approximately $4.6 million in additional funding to charter public schools statewide.
This is an important step toward addressing the long-standing funding gap charter public schools face when it comes to facilities, and it sends an important message: charter public school students deserve equitable investment.
Thanks to your advocacy this year, lawmakers heard loud and clear that charter public school students deserve safe, welcoming, high-quality learning environments. You contacted your legislators, shared personal stories, joined advocacy efforts, and spoke up for fair funding. Your voices have made a real difference.
This additional funding will help schools continue innovating and investing in the spaces where students learn, grow, and thrive while protecting resources for the programs and supports students need most.
Of course, we still have a long way to go. Even with this $100 per student increase, our students receive nearly $600 less per year compared with their friends and neighbors who attend traditional public schools. And those dollars add up. However, this signed budget is a reminder that advocacy works.
Thank you for taking action and standing up for charter public school students across the Commonwealth. Making change is not easy, and we could not have done it without you. Together, we helped secure a meaningful investment in our schools and our students.
With gratitude,
