Dear Supporter,
Late August means back to school. School staff are hard at work preparing lessons, setting goals, and welcoming new students and families — whether it’s a welcome BBQ at Phoenix Academy, a family fun festival at Sizer, a community back-to-school fest at Baystate Academy, staff training day at Foxborough Regional, curriculum design at MLK Jr. Charter School of Excellence, or planning for sustainable meal service at Martha’s Vineyard. Many of our 46,000 students are already back in the classroom, getting a head start on another year of learning and progress. It’s this kind of strong start that helps our students and our schools excel. Just this month, 12 of our schools were ranked among the top 100 public high schools in Massachusetts by U.S. News & World Report!
Late August also means the 2026 election season is upon us! We need to bring that same back-to-school energy to the polls, ensuring we help get leaders into office — and keep leaders in office — who believe that families should have the right to decide which public school is right for their child. Early voting in Massachusetts’ primary elections is already underway, and if you haven’t yet made your voting plan, now is the time! Check your polling place and voting options, and make a plan to vote early or on Tuesday, September 1.
Make An Election Day Voting Plan
Our elected leaders help shape the future of public education across the Commonwealth. The recently passed FY27 state budget, for example, established a new Foundation Budget Review Commission that will take a fresh look at how Massachusetts funds public education — and MCPSA has a seat at the table to advocate for charter public schools.
Progress like this is possible when all of us stay engaged: voting, speaking up, and letting elected leaders know what matters to students and families. The September primary is another opportunity to make your voice heard ahead of the November general election. Get out and vote!
