Just under 68,000 students graduated from public high schools across high school last year. How many went on to college.
About 72 percent of students went on to attend a two- or four-year college program. The highest percentage – about 40 percent – enrolled in a public four-year degree program, with just under 8,000 enrolling into the University of Massachusetts system with about 6,000 more enrolling in a different state university in Massachusetts.
About 38 percent of students chose a private four-year college and just over 21 percent enrolled in a Massachusetts community college.
Enrollment rates after high school varied widely across Massachusetts, with one school seeing 100 percent college enrollment, another 22.5 percent.
