Reporting to the Executive Director and serving as a member of the senior leadership team, the Chief of Government Affairs is responsible for helping lead the organization’s advocacy and organizing work to strengthen bipartisan and progressive political support for charter schools and to support the nation’s highest quality charter sector in its work to serve Massachusetts students and families well.
Founded in 2001, the Massachusetts Charter Public School Association (MCPSA) has an extensive history of supporting and advocating for charter schools across the state and is currently in a period of exciting organizational growth. The mission of MCPSA is to create and protect the conditions that will enable the public charter sector to thrive and contribute toward the common goal of all children having equitable access to high-quality schools.
This full time, year-round position contains two focus areas. 1) Fund development and partnership to research and apply for grants, assist in developing and implementing fundraising projects, and build a donor base. 2) Support to the executive director in communicating information to administrators, parents, staff, and/or other community members and supporting the broad array of services to the school community.
The ideal candidate is responsible and organized, an excellent communicator, and innovative in his or her approach to the core components of the role: spreading word about the school, actively recruiting families to apply, and seeing them through the entire admissions process. This role will also have some school-based responsibilities, integrating himself or herself into the fabric of the school. This is a 12-month position with desired start date of July 2, 2018.
