August 7, 2026 | Massachusetts Charter Public School Association

On June 23, 2026, Innovation Academy Charter School Middle School Principal Federico Pereyra was recognized at the 2026 Latino Educators Shine Awards, hosted by Latinos for Education. The annual awards celebrate Latino educators whose leadership, innovation, and commitment are strengthening Massachusetts public education and making a meaningful difference for students, families, and school communities across the Commonwealth.

Pereyra was one of 15 educators from Massachusetts charter public schools honored during this year’s ceremony. His recognition reflects the dedication of educators who are expanding opportunities for students while helping high-quality public charter schools deliver exceptional learning experiences and student support.

Although educators from charter public schools make up approximately 5% of the state’s teaching workforce, they represented 26% of the 2026 Latino Educators Shine Award recipients. The recognition highlights the important role charter public schools play in developing diverse school leaders and educators who reflect and serve the communities in which they work.

We are proud to celebrate Federico Pereyra and the many outstanding educators whose leadership is helping students thrive across Massachusetts. His recognition is a reminder that excellent educators are at the heart of strong public schools and that celebrating their impact helps strengthen the future of public education for all students.
