Applications are available for the annual Earl and Lee Tonet Scholarship, which is open to third- and fourth-year college students who are graduates of Hampshire Regional High School and live in the Hilltowns of Chesterfield, Goshen, Westhampton, Williamsburg, and Worthington.
These towns were original “feeders” to the former Williamsburg High School where Earl Tonet began his long teaching and coaching career and where Lee Tonet was a 1956 graduate before becoming a registered nurse. The couple long subscribed to the saying, “Do the common things, uncommonly well,” with genuine effort, commitment and sense of humor, according to the scholarship fund.
Information about applying for the scholarship can be found at the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts website: communityfoundation.org. Applications are being accepted through March 31. The intent of the scholarship is to aid students financially and encourage them to continue their post-secondary education to successful completion and award of an undergraduate degree.
