As part of our statewide effort to expand the number and impact of charter public schools, the MCPSA has significantly strengthened it staff, hiring several experienced advocates to organize and mobilize community and business leaders, parents and other charter supporters.

Robert L. Fortes, Jr., a longtime political and government operative, becomes the Boston Charter Alliance Director of Advocacy, responsible for coordinating our Boston based advocacy work, which will include mobilizing parents, networking with community leaders and helping with citywide visibility and recruitment efforts such as the Boston Charter School recruitment fair.

Trent Ramsey, who founded or operated youth services programs in Alabama and Cambridge, is the new Statewide Field Director for MCPSA. He will focus on engaging parents and voters in advocacy for charter schools and charter school related issues.

Last month, the Association announced the appointment of John Schneider, MassINC’s longtime Executive Vice President, to lead an effort to dramatically expand the number of charter public schools in the state’s Gateway Cities.

Fortes and Ramsey join Janine Matho, Deputy Director for Innovation and Excellence, and Kara Brown, Director of Operations, to round out a formidable staff to advocate on behalf of our schools, teachers, administrators - and of course our parents and students.
