Massachusetts Charter Public School lotteries are quickly approaching, with each charter planning its annual lottery in March. A lottery is held when the number of applicants to a charter public school exceeds the number of spaces available, which is the case for almost every charter school in the Commonwealth.
Most Boston-area charter public schools are holding their lotteries on the same day - March 14th. In February, at the 12th Annual Boston Charter Public School Enrollment Showcase, over 300 families spoke to students and teachers from charter schools located throughout the city. MCPSA had a chance to sit down with a few parents to talk about why they chose to explore the charter school option for their family.
