SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Hampden Charter School of Science celebrated both its fifth year anniversary and its recent charter renewal on Friday night. A dinner and reception was held at the MassMutual Center.
The school’s charter was renewed because of its impressive academic track record. The parent of one former student told 22News why she believes the school has enjoyed such success.
“I see the school as a catalyst for the community because I think that teachers need to be connected to the parents and I think we have that well connection with the parents,” said Diane Hunter.
The school’s director, Harun Celik, told 22News that the school has a 100% acceptance rate to college and former students have gone on to attend Harvard, Boston University, and UMass.
