ABOUT BRIDGE BOSTON CHARTER SCHOOL
Bridge Boston is a public charter school that opened in the fall of 2011 serving children in Roxbury and the surrounding community – many of whom have experienced emotional, social, and developmental barriers to learning. In the 2019-2020 school year we will reach maturity with 335 students in pre-Kindergarten through grade 8. We believe the most effective way to lift children out of poverty is by equipping them with an excellent education. With a longer school day and school year, we are able to provide academic rigor, a commitment to nurture the whole child, and a breadth of full-service programming to remove obstacles to knowledge acquisition.

JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking a talented, compassionate, and committed Middle School Math teacher dedicated to meeting the needs of traditionally underserved children. The ideal candidate would be someone who enjoys the challenge of a fast-paced, collaborative environment and being part of building a growing school. Class sizes typically range between 18-20 students. This position is full-time and reports to the Middle School Division Head. Salary is competitive and based on experience and education.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Develop and implement curriculum and daily lesson plans for 5th and 6th grades
  • Deliver dynamic and creative instruction
  • Administer frequent assessments and addressing findings
  • Meet and communicate with parents/guardians
  • Collaborate with other teachers and the principal
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in elementary or secondary education much preferred
  • At least 3 to 4 years of experience teaching math in an elementary or middle school
  • Deep familiarity with Eureka Math
  • Must have completed MTEL by the end of their first year with Bridge Boston or have MA teachers licensure, including SEI
    endorsement
  • Excellent organizational skills, written and verbal communication skills, people skills and the willingness to be a team player
  • Demonstrated cultural competence and sensitivity; belief in the value of diversity
  • Clear willingness to make and learn from mistakes; values and solicits critical feedback
  • Bilingual Spanish, Haitian-Creole, or Cape Verdean Creole highly desirable
